Prices are important, and you should not base your venue selection only on the displayed price (that can be tricky).
So, to simplify, we display on this page just a global idea of the price, from $ for the cheaper venues, to $$$$ for the most expensive ones.
You will find the detailed prices of the venues on their dedicated pages.
The prices displayed here are summer prices. Most venues (not the cheapest ones) often offer a winter (or off-season) cheaper price. But given that most weddings take place during the summer, we have decided to show you the summer price. So if you get married in winter, you might get an even cheaper price.
Also, some venues would charge extra to set up the ceremony room (which is totally understandable), but it can also be misleading. Therefore, to make it simpler, we have to presume that you also want a ceremony at the venue and have included the ceremony option when needed.

If you are planning a micro or small wedding, consider booking a restaurant to celebrate with your family.
Venue Prices & Wedding on a Budget
If you are just starting to consider booking a venue, the first thing to do (especially if the prices seem a lot) is to look at the average prices of venues in Minnesota. What you will notice is that in Rochester, we are lucky to have a very beautiful venue, way cheaper than in the Twin Cities (almost 50% cheaper). Therefore, a lot of couples from Minneapolis or Saint Paul decide to drive a bit South of Minnesota to get married in Rochester.
That being said, that’s still a budget! So if you want to save money while still booking a nice venue smartly, check this article.
What factors to take in consideration on the Price
Some venues would let you pick the caterer you want, or even bring your own food, which might not be a good idea for multiple reasons we won’t expose here, but which are definitely a way to save money. On the contrary, some venues would have imposed a caterer (which often is just to make sure everything works smoothly), but can also request a minimum on food or alcohol. And that is a factor to consider, because a minimum of food of $5000 is a considerable sum, sometimes even higher than the price of renting the place itself.
Of course, to judge the quality of the food, there is only one way: testing!
Finally, be aware that some venues would also charge you a fee to set up the bar.
Other elements to consider
Now that we have spoken of how photogenic, or not, the venue can be, and how expensive or not, the other point you will have to take seriously is:
- All the extras: setting up, cleaning.
- When start and finish the location of the venue: When you can arrive, and until which hour you have the venue
- if you can access the day before
- How loud can you party
That’s why you should always contact the venue and ask for fresh information.
