Who is the videographer with whom we partner?
If the photography part is still conducted by Alex of French-Touch-Photography (check our portfolio if you haven’t yet), the videography coverage will be assured by Redmond Digital Media (check the video below).
Redmond Digital is embodied by Bobby Burns, a talented videographer, with whom we have the chance to work together during a 3-day Indian wedding in the Twin Cities. Bobby is not only a storyteller, he is also a video educator. He is originally from Minnesota, lived in California for the last decade, and is now living in the Twin Cities. Now let me explain why I recommend this filmmaker.
Why do I recommend Bobby Burns at Redmond Digital over another videographer?
- Quality of his footage!
- Smooth symbiosis between your videographer and photographer
- Time Saving System for the Day
- Nice human being able to capture real feelings
1/ Quality of his footage!
First and foremost, the quality of his films. As a perfectionist, I have a huge affection for people who create perfect pieces of art. Bobby is one of those rare wedding videographers who push the classical boundaries to create a unique video you will remember years after!
Not only does he handle all the technical parts perfectly (smooth movement of the camera, pleasant and controlled lighting, clean sound recording), but, and not least, he is also a real creative. He has an artistic eye, a big sensibility. And, on top of that, and maybe the most important, knows how to build/tell a story.
For 20 years I have met a lot of videographers. For a lot of them videography is a side job. This is not the case for Bobby Burns. He is clearly a full time pro, with a lot of experience (almost two decades). As a result, his work is amazing.
2/ Smooth symbiosis between your videographer and photographer.
On their wedding day, the bride and groom want amazing photos and videos. It’s important, not to say necessary, that these two different vendors work in symbiosis. When it’s not the case, I have sometimes seen a kind of competition taking place. As a result, I have sometimes missed some important shots due to another careless filmmaker who was standing in front of my camera! What a pity!
As a matter of fact, photographers and videographers should respect each other instead of compromising the work of each other (you don’t want to see your photographer in your movie, and you don’t want to see your videographer in your picture).
3/ Time Saving System for the Day
Photographers and videographers who work together develop some systems to be more productive in less time. That can be on the placement, the synchronization, or even the lighting of your reception. For instance, while one is taking pictures, the other one will record a video of the same thing but from a different angle. As a result, you are not wasting the precious time of your wedding. During the reception, most venues require additional lighting to increase the quality of the images. Photographers and videographers need to agree on what kind of lighting setup will be beneficial for both of them.
4/ Stimulation for better content
Great people stimulate you. With Bobby, we like to discuss together on what to do, sharing ideas. From that emerges a climate of emulation which benefits both the final pictures and final wedding movie. In other words, you get the best from both of our creativity.
5/ Nice human being able to capture real feelings
Finally, the human aspect: emotion and heart. Being nice doesn’t imply being a good filmmaker. But on the other hand, you can’t be a good wedding videographer if you don’t have empathy and don’t know how to put people at their ease. It’s important to gather qualitative people who care not only for their art but also for their clients. Bobby is fun and easy to work with, respectful and generous, which brings a good spirit to the day. As a result, the husband and wife feel comfortable and he can capture real feelings on footage.
What are the other advantages of booking a photographer and videographer package for your wedding?
As we have seen, the obvious advantages are a smooth synchronization and an artistic emulation that will reflect on the final work. But there are other reasons that can push you in that direction:
- you will save time during the booking process
- you will save time coordinating both of us
- you will save money
6/ You will save time in the booking process
You probably have tons of vendors. Picking a good reliable wedding videographer we recommend will save you time.
7/ You will save time coordinating both of us
On the wedding day we will discuss the timeline together, which means less complication for you to explain everything twice.
8/ You will save money
Photography cost + videography will be of course more expensive. Economically, we know it’s an investment. Most people are attracted by making a good deal when buying a bundle, so if you decide on a photography package and videography package with us, you would get a substantial $200 discount: -$100 for the wedding videography service, and -$100 on the wedding photography service (or a Guest Book album).
Conclusion:
Let’s clarify your last doubts
You may not be sure about needing both photography and videography for your one-lifetime event?
Both are important in a different way. On one hand, photography creates still images, printed into an object: the photograph and the wedding album. Those will help you to remember the people and share the events. The prints (and especially the wedding album) are a physical trace of this unique day even in 100 years. It’s a family heirloom.
On the other hand, videography captures short pieces of reality with movement and sounds. And if seeing footage of the bride and groom running happily together might not seem so important (you can fill it in the still images), there is one thing that photographs can’t capture. It is the speeches during the vows and the toast. Imagine the sound of voices, the tremors in a voice, the hesitations, the intonations and the nuances they bring. Film, through the experience of time and sound, adds a layer of reality that photography cannot transcribe. This is why the two mediums are complementary.
There are no obligations
You got it. I strongly recommend this guy for all the reasons mentioned earlier.
That said, there is no obligation to choose him. Indeed, you, or your wedding planner, might already be considering another videographer. Or, another potential scenario, Bobby could already be booked for your date. In such scenarios I will do my best to work with other videographers. I am very used to it, and 99% of the time there is no issue at all. To conclude, Bobby Burns from Redmond Digital is not the only videographer in the Twin Cities, but he is for sure among the very best, if not the best I have worked with in Minnesota.
Now, are you ready to book us?
